Medical malpractice: Family files claim after woman’s death

Doctors, nurses and all medical professionals are often considered heroes, saving the lives of patients on a daily basis. The state of Kentucky boasts some of the best health care facilities and professionals in America. Receiving proper treatment can be the difference in the survival or death of the patient. As in all walks of life, negligence and errors can also occur in the field of health care. Tragically, medical malpractice remains one of the leading causes of death and injury across the country.

A lawsuit has been filed against a doctor and medical facility in another state after alleged negligent care resulted in the death of a woman. The lawsuit was filed by the family of the woman who say that their family member was discharged and released prematurely and inappropriately. According to the lawsuit, the woman was experiencing symptoms of a heart attack and heart failure at the time of discharge, but the defendant released the woman anyway.

The lawsuit says the woman died only six days after being discharged. The plaintiffs claim a lack of communication between doctors at the medical facility and a failure to properly diagnose and treat the woman resulted in her death. The wrongful death lawsuit accuses the defendants of negligence and medical malpractice.

The survival of patients across the country depends on a receiving the proper care in a timely manner. Any deviation from the acceptable standard of care can mean significant injuries or the death of the patient. Kentucky residents who have been affected by medical malpractice can take action and file a claim. A successful claim could end with patients and families receiving substantial and much-deserved financial relief.
