Woman files medical malpractice suit against OBGYN

Luckily, residents in the state of Kentucky are privileged to have access to some of the best medical care available in the country. Doctors, nurses and other medical professionals across the state are required to have years of academic and on-the-job training in order to treat and care for patients. Although education and technology has improved by leaps and bounds, mistakes are still made at an alarming rate in the medical field. When medical malpractice happens, the lives and well-being of patients are directly affected.

A woman in another state filed a lawsuit that alleges negligence caused her to need a secondary surgical procedure. The woman claims that she was pregnant and had a miscarriage. According to the complaint, the woman underwent a procedure to remove an unborn fetus.

The lawsuit says that, in the days following the procedure, the woman experienced pain so she visited an emergency room. Allegedly, it was discovered that remnants of her conception were still there. The woman had to undergo another surgical procedure to remove the remnants, according to the lawsuit. The plaintiff accuses the defendant of breaching the standard of care. She seeks damages in excess of $200,000.

Unfortunately, scenarios such as this are happening far too often around the country. Medical malpractice is one of the leading causes of death and injury in the United States today. Those in Kentucky that have been affected by medical malpractice could benefit from discussions with an experienced legal representative. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in compensation to aid victims and families during this time of need.
