Truck accidents result in six fatalities in Kentucky

Any motor vehicle accident can result in serious property damage and physical harm. Truck accidents especially can be damaging for anyone involved due to their larger size in comparison to other vehicles. Sadly, a recent truck accident in Kentucky involving two tractor-trailers and two other vehicles resulted in multiple fatalities.

All four vehicles were traveling north on an interstate that was under construction. At a point in the construction zone where I-65 reduced its lanes, the traffic had slowed down and the vehicles were stopped. The first tractor-trailer involved in the collision was stopped with the other two vehicles behind it. Reportedly, the second tractor-trailer did not slow to a stop and crashed into one of the vehicles.

The initial collision resulted in a chain reaction collision involving the other vehicle and tractor-trailer. One of the cars was a minivan and contained six people. Five adults in the minivan were killed and the only child passenger was seriously injured. A sixth fatality was from the other vehicle, and neither driver in the tractor-trailers suffered serious injuries. The northbound lanes were closed throughout the night as the accident was investigated and cleared.

Victims who survive truck accidents may require expensive necessary medical care and therapy. While attempting to cope with the loss of a loved one, family members of deceased victims must plan and finance unexpected funerals. Personal injury attorneys in Kentucky can advise families of deceased victims of their rights and options to file a wrongful death lawsuit in civil court. While a lawsuit will not eliminate the pain of losing a loved one, a monetary judgment awarded may help relieve any financial burden.
