Truck accidents often result in fatalities

The American economy is trending up. As the economy grows, so does the need to transport merchandise and other products. Trucks are the lifeblood of the economy in Kentucky, as businesses across the state rely on trucks to export and import goods on a daily basis. However, this also means that the number of semis on roadways is increasing, making truck accidents more likely to occur. Because of the size of semi-trucks, any accident involving these vehicles is more likely to be serious.

A recent accident on Interstate 64 in Frankfurt left one man dead after a head-on collision with a semi. According to the driver of the rig, traffic was slowed on the interstate. He claims a car cut in front of his truck to avoid the congestion, so he steered hard to the left to avoid a collision with the car.

Police say the truck driver lost control and cut across the median into oncoming traffic. The rig collided head-on with an SUV that was traveling in the opposite direction, reports say. Tragically, the driver of the SUV was pronounced dead not long after the collision.

Trucks can cause serious damage due to their size and weight. According to statistics, almost 98 percent of semi-truck accidents result in at least one death. Kentucky residents that have suffered injuries or the loss of a loved one in this type of accident may be able to take legal action. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in much-needed and deserved financial relief to help victims and/or families through this difficult time.
