Tractor-trailers are massive vehicles that can do major damage in an accident. There’s a lot more to worry about with these massive trucks than just their size. They are often hauling hazardous materials or flammable liquids which can make them incredibly dangerous. Thousands of victims are killed every year in truck accidents in Kentucky and across the United States. Tragically, most of them are occupants of passenger cars.
A recent crash involving a tractor-trailer in Frankfort claimed the life of a man. The incident happened at night along US-127. According to reports, a tractor-trailer pulled out of a gas station and onto the highway, blocking several lanes of the roadway.
Reports said a sedan traveling south collided with the tractor-trailer as it blocked the southbound lanes of the highway. Unfortunately, the driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, authorities said. Kentucky State Police said the driver of the tractor-trailer was arrested and charged with driving a commercial motor vehicle while out of service, along with other charges.
Thanks to a booming economy, there are more tractor-trailers and commercial vehicles on American roadways than ever before. It’s not a matter of if truck accidents will happen, but when. Those in Kentucky who have suffered injuries or the loss of a loved one due to negligence in an accident could benefit by discussing the matter with a legal representative. A lawsuit, if successful, could provide victims and/or families with substantial compensation to help recover from this traumatic experience.
