More commerical traffic means more truck accidents

Traveling on Kentucky's crowded interstates and highways can be rather daunting. Additionally, most of these major highways are heavily utilized by commercial vehicles such as tractor-trailers. For those in passenger vehicles, traveling at high speeds close to these massive trucks can be incredibly dangerous. No person wants to be involved in a crash with these big rigs, but it seems more truck accidents are occurring these days as traffic increases across the state.

Just recently, an accident involving a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck sent two people to the hospital. The accident happened in Burkesville at the intersection of KY-485 and KY-61. According to reports, the driver of a tractor-trailer was approaching the intersection when the throttle of the large truck became stuck.

Reportedly, the truck driver was unable to stop, and the tractor-trailer slammed into a pickup truck at the intersection. Authorities said the driver and a juvenile passenger in the pickup truck were injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the crash, reports said.

Since they are so big, any crash involving a tractor-trailer most often results in serious injuries, or worse. Due to increased shipping needs around the country, commercial traffic on Kentucky roadways is only going to increase in the coming years. Fortunately, truck drivers are required to undergo hours of training before they can operate tractor-trailers, but this does not prevent them from making mistakes. Those in Kentucky who have suffered injury or loss in truck accidents may want to consider discussions with an experienced and knowledgeable attorney.
