Medical malpractice can affect anyone

Those who require medical treatment or undergo surgical procedures are sometimes bedridden and may be unable to care for themselves as they normally would. It is the job of nurses and other medical staff to provide patients with the proper treatment and care to aid in recovery. However, nurses in Kentucky are often understaffed and in a rush to see patients, which can cause them to leave some duties unfulfilled. Victims and families may pursue legal action through a medical malpractice claim when neglect causes injuries or death.

A man in another state filed a lawsuit after alleged negligent care by his providers caused him to suffer serious injuries. According to the lawsuit, the man was taken to a hospital and diagnosed with severe sepsis, pneumonia, respiratory failure and other ailments. Allegedly, the man had to be sedated and intubated, and he developed pressure ulcers while he was bed-ridden.

In order to prevent pressure ulcers, also known as bed sores, patients need to be turned and readjusted at regular intervals. Normally, this is a routine part of patient care. The lawsuit claimed that the staff at this hospital neglected to follow through on their duties. As a result, the man had to undergo several months of treatment to remedy his condition, the lawsuit alleged.

Every day, thousands of patients In Kentucky and across the country, place their trust and lives in the hands of health care providers. If these providers fail to do their job, patients will suffer. Kentucky families who have suffered due to medical malpractice may want to discuss the matter with a legal representative.
