Lawsuit blames medical malpractice for complications

| Nov 14, 2018 | Medical Malpractice

When those in Kentucky seek medical treatment, they place their lives in the hands of doctors and surgeons with the understanding that they will be treated with great care. Unfortunately, this does not always happen as medical malpractice has become one of the leading causes of death and injury in the United States. Any mistake made during medical treatment directly affects the patient and can cause a lifetime of pain and suffering.

A couple in another state filed a lawsuit over claims that negligence during a procedure caused the husband to suffer complications. The husband says he sought treatment for knee pain and went in for a total knee replacement surgery. After the surgery, the man experienced significant swelling in his knee as well as extreme pain, according to the lawsuit.

Allegedly, the man had to have subsequent surgeries due to complications from the first surgery. The man also claims that his right leg is now longer than his left leg which causes him back pain and problems with his gait. The plaintiffs allege that providers failed to properly implant the necessary components and failed to uphold the standard of care. They seek damages and all just relief.

There is always a certain level of risk involved with any medical procedure. When humans are involved, there will always be a chance for mistakes. Kentucky families who have experienced medical malpractice may be able to take legal action. A successful lawsuit could result in much-needed and deserved compensation to help families with the financial difficulties and hardships that come with such a tragic experience.
