Blink-182 drummer files medical malpractice lawsuit

| Sep 21, 2018 | Medical Malpractice

No one is perfect; every single person makes mistakes. The consequences of errors can vary greatly depending on the context in which the errors occurred. When a mistake is made during the treatment of a medical patient, the consequences can be life-altering for the patient. Negligence often leads to errors in treatment and, in the state of Kentucky, this constitutes medical malpractice. Travis Barker, the drummer for the popular band Blink-182, recently made headlines by filing a lawsuit against a medical center in another state, alleging negligence.

Allegedly, Barker sustained nerve damage and other difficulties after a test at the facility. Reportedly, Barker has been suffering from blood clots in his arms for quite some time. According to his lawsuit, the issues began after he received a routine MRI.

The lawsuit claims that Barker needed to be sedated before the procedure, but providers were unable to locate a vein and stuck him at least 40 times with a dirty needle. Consequently, Travis developed a staph infection and suffered nerve damage, the lawsuit claims. Barker claims his condition has continued to get worse as a result of the alleged negligence.

Modern technology and more stringent regulations have been implemented to make medical procedures safer for patients in Kentucky and across the country. However, thousands of people are injured or killed each year due to medical malpractice. Those who have sustained injury or suffered the loss of a loved one because of negligence or human error could benefit from discussions with a legal representative. A successfully litigated claim could provide compensation to help victims and families get through this traumatic experience.
