Neglecting minor procedures could result in medical malpractice

| Aug 9, 2018 | Medical Malpractice

Every day, thousands of medical patients in Kentucky and across the United States place their trust in the hands of skilled and capable health care professionals. The expectation is that these patients will be treated with a level of care that will aid in their health and recovery. These days, however, nurses and other medical workers are sometimes understaffed and forced to work long, exhausting shifts. This is a common cause of medical malpractice.

A man in another state filed a lawsuit after he developed ulcers due to alleged negligent care. According to the lawsuit, the man was involved in a motorcycle accident several years ago and, as a result, became quadriplegic. Apparently, the man was a patient of a home health company that took care of his daily needs.

Part of this daily care involved turning and moving the man to prevent bed sores, the lawsuit asserted. The man alleges that the staff neglected this task, and he developed stage three and stage four pressure ulcers that forced him to spend several months in a hospital. He seeks to hold the defendants accountable for his injuries and has requested an unspecified amount in damages.

When medical professionals neglect to perform seemingly minor daily tasks, the patient can suffer life-altering consequences.  Tragically, negligence in the medical field is one of the leading causes of death and injury in the United States. Families in Kentucky who have been affected by medical malpractice may benefit from discussions with an experienced attorney. A successful claim could result in financial relief to help families recover any monetary losses that occurred as a result of negligent care.
