Those involved in truck accidents can suffer severe injuries

| Jun 27, 2018 | Truck Accidents

There is more commercial traffic on roadways today than ever before, as the economy continues to grow in Kentucky and across the United States. Tractor-trailers are needed to ship goods and merchandise to consumers. Although these vehicles are often considered the backbone of the economy, they can also be very dangerous as they share roads with smaller passenger vehicles. Tractor-trailers can weigh up to 80,000 pounds, so any accident has the potential to result in extensive damage to smaller vehicles. Unfortunately, truck accidents commonly result in injuries.

A recent accident involving several automobiles and a semi-truck on Interstate 65 near Munfordville resulted in injuries. Reports say that traffic was stopped in the southbound lanes due to bridge construction. A semi-truck failed to yield to the congested traffic and struck a Mitsubishi car along with several other vehicles in a chain-reaction crash, according to reports.

The driver of the Mitsubishi was air-lifted to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, authorities say. Two passengers in the Mitsubishi were also transported to a hospital with injuries. Reportedly, occupants of another vehicle also suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening injuries. The crash blacked all southbound lanes of I-65.

It is likely that accidents such as this will happen more and more as populations and economies continue to expand in cities across the state of Kentucky. Those who have suffered injuries or the loss of loved ones in truck accidents could benefit by seeking the services of a legal representative. A successfully litigated lawsuit could provide financial relief to families struggling to pay medical expenses and other damages.
