Kentucky motor vehicle accidents often lead to lawsuits. Serious injuries, such as those often experienced when truck accidents occur, may render victims unable to work, or, in worst cases, result in fatalities. Recovering victims, and immediate family members of those who have died, are often able to seek monetary recovery for their losses in court.
Much depends on the details regarding the cause of a collision. When it is not immediately apparent, investigators often reconstruct the incident to determine who or what may have been responsible for the crash. An attorney acting on behalf of an injured victim may also launch an investigation into the events leading up to a collision to help identify possible sources of liability and gather evidence that may later help substantiate an injury claim.
A recent tragedy occurred when a minivan was traveling on Interstate 65. At some point, the minivan and a tractor-trailer collided. The 35-year-old driver in the minivan did not survive his injuries.
The truck was apparently hauling corn, of which some 40,000 pounds were strewn across the road after the accident. Not all truck accidents are caused by the truckers involved. In this particular situation, the minivan reportedly veered out of its lane just before the accident. An investigation is ongoing. In Kentucky and all other states, if an injured victim or family of a fatal accident victim believes another motorist has been negligent, assistance can be sought through consultation with an experienced personal injury attorney to discuss the process for filing a claim.
